With decades of experience in dog training, fostering, boarding and rescue, Darlene understands what helps dogs feel secure and confident in her care.
 

Darlene and her husband Steve moved to Plano in 2012. Darlene quickly sought out volunteer work to continue her passion of caring for dogs that she developed over her lifetime in Portland, Oregon. She volunteered at Cody’s Friends Rescue in North Dallas, an all-breed, volunteer-based 501(C)(3) non-profit rescue formed by committed dog lovers.

 

Darlene became known for her ability to foster and work with
aggressive dogs or dogs with behavioral issues that made them a high risk of not becoming adopted. She successfully rehabilitated countless dogs who are now placed in loving, forever homes. She also volunteered to train and rehabilitate difficult-to-adopt dogs of all breeds at the Plano Animal Shelter.
 

Darlene began a home based boarding and training business in Plano that quickly grew to the point of needing to acquire a two acre property in Wylie to provide ample space for her training and rescue work.

 

She traveled to Atlanta for a shadow program under Josh Donahue at Argos Dog Works to develop skills in Relationship-Based Balanced Training, and completed several clinics under nationally renowned trainer Jeff Gellman of Solid K-9 Training.

While Darlene still offers training programs and clinics, her main focus today is in-her-home and in-your-home dog boarding and pet sitting. In her cozy Wylie home, she specializes in calm, gentle boarding, where every guest is treated like family and daily routines are followed with love and respect.

Darlene is a Gold-Star Rover Sitter. Skills include Oral and Injected Medication Administration, Senior Dog / Special Needs Care, Management of Specialized Diet Needs, and Daily Exercise if requested.
